| I agree, perhaps I will introduce a throw away character, just to stir up some buffalo and cow pies. ( I must be Politically Correct you know ................ NOT! ) | |

| That sounds like a great idea Lac. Some NPC's we can all run would be good or something like that. I am thinking that any bad guys will most likely work for McIntire. I am figuring the guy's probably into the old 'extortion' game as well, making people pay for protection and stuff like that. | |

I loved the post by the way... that was a cool entrance into the scene, and yeah you're writing your Apache very well, Lac.!

| Tiph, Lac, RP, Sin and Bear,
I apolgize today has been the first day off since i started to work 12-14 hour days. This month is going to be tuff getting in and posting. Ill try and post short ones and play catch up for awhile. Thanks for the signature..on Dawson ............NICE.
On John McIntyre...I think because hes a main character...maybe he needs a signature as well versus just being a NPC...what does everyone think?
Easy
By the way, where abouts do you live in Canada? I have a business assosicate that is flying down from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to visit us in the SF bay area...He's two hours ahead of us....approx north of Montana/ which means this weather of the 50s will feel delightful to him versus your cold...

| I'll take care of the signature for McIntire. There's no worries, people get busy eh? We know where Dawson is, and we'll try and keep it real in your absence. The posse has taken off during the night, so we really can't go beyond the early hours of the morning without knocking your character out of synch with the time line. I believe that in the wee hours of the morn Dawson would either come in contact with the posse or maybe run into the Apache or whatever other event you think might be appropriate.
Ironically enough, I do not live that far from Saskatoon. It is also sort of known as Bridge City around here. It's been a little warmer here of late... and I used the term loosely. Our winters are not that bad, they just last so blood long. I envy anyone who can get out for a while.

| Thanks for your comments on Goyakla ....... He should fit in well with this story line and will begin playing a more active role. Not to worry about delay in posts, I know all too well how real life can interfere with our fun. Hopefully within the next day our to I can come up with some NPC's (aka: throw aways ) fort us to play around with. Great posts guys. | |

| Well I'm glad you backed up time, Sin. I thought jumping to the next morning was a little premature, what with Dawson still hightailing it and what... the night is young!
So... I have an idea I am going to implement but I can't post it just yet. Sub Bear got the wheels turning with his last post when Bones mentioned that tidbit about the law. This is going to be something right up Maddie's alley and will unite the characters by giving them a common goal.
Give me a bit and I'll set us on course... this should eventually link all the characters together.

| Yeah, I was re-reading posts and realized that I'd jumped the gun....pardon the pun. Needed to rethink and redo so I did. LOL Glad you approve. BTW, Lac, don't know if you missed it or whathaveyou, but just in case, even though Maddie and her father train horses for the military in order to make money, they actually find it rather comical that the money they make from the military helps the Keegans help the Apache that live near-by as well as on their ranch.....albeit hidden, but safe and able to live the way they were meant to. Just throwing that out there if you would like to use that to connect our characters later. | |

| There! Now the plot is coming together and it flowed in very believable manner.
Now, Sin. I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do. Realistically, no one in their right mind is going to send a girl to guide to gun fighters to a town in the dark, no matter how qualified she may be. It's just not believable. That's why, Fallon recommended Maddie's father.
Ian Keegan is a sub-character though... so looking at this from the perspective of a novel the reader would be wondering if a new character was going to be introduced or if in fact, Madison Keegan was somehow going to retain her role that the story has been building up to.
Just thought I would clarify my thinking. Yes this is a fictional story and rough and tumble female gunslingers can be more common, but so far Madison has been portrayed as more of a pretty tom-boy. Rough and tumble men and women would thus treat her accordingly. Make sense?
So, I'll leave it up to you to orchestrate what transpires. Right now, Sandy and Bones are aimed at getting to Coyote Hills and if that all works out, and there's a really good chance we might just run into some Apaches along the way.

| I struggled to find suitable pictures for the collage Bear... I am still not that happy with it. I am going to search around for some better pics and eventually I'll whip up something a little more suitable for the character. It's difficult to match up artistic depictions. I used a graphic of Colt .44 (1860's style) in the pic. | |

| I hope I didn't go overboard and take too many liberties with characters in my last post. If I did or anything needs changed, please tell me and I will do so. LOL Not a problem and no hurt feelings. All of this just kind of came to me and I kept going but I can split things up if needed. Hope I make sense. LOL | |

| Here ya go, Sub Bear. I think this is much more worthy of Bones Brown. I think I found a fairly good 'real life' equivalent in Chuck Connors. (I tried to add some 'greasy hair') | |

| Just a little tidbit on the Apache language:
Apache is an Athabaskan (Na-Dene) language of the American Southwest, particularly Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Actually, there are at least two distinct Apache languages: Western Apache and Eastern Apache. The two are closely related, like French and Spanish, but speakers of one language cannot understand the other well--in fact, Western Apache is closer to Navajo than to Eastern Apache. Chiricahua-Mescalero is considered by some people to be a dialect of Western Apache, by others a separate language; the three forms of Eastern Apache (Jicarilla, Lipan, and Plains Apache) are considered by some to be distinct languages and by others to be dialects of a single Eastern Apache language. In all there are about 15,000 speakers of Apachean languages in the American Southwest today.

| Thanks Tiph, the Chiricahua and Mescalero also spoke some Spanish. I have been looking for an online translator but have not found one suitable yet. My search continues. | |

| Cool glad that could help. Just thought it would add to the realism if we were all aware of the different dialects that exist. We may have some characters that may very well speak West Apache and not really understand the other dialect.
I was researching the relationship between the northwestern native languages and those down around the Rio Grande and found that they do in fact share some common words. The language's that Sandy knows would not be understood by the Apache or vica versa, but they share the same base words simply meaning that he might be able to make some intuitive leaps to decipher the Apache languages. They are all Athabascan.
Its just a pet peeve of mine when people speaking different dialects can understand one another perfectly. There are areas of Europe where the dialects of common languages vary so greatly from village to village that people have a hard time understanding one another.

| Hey Easy... yeah, I had set up a spot for Ethan then we started to move on prior to learning about your status. No worries though, the way that it has played out, Dawson is heading for the ranch, but so is McIntire. Sandy, Bones and Maddie saw him ripping across the range until he went out of sight and they are progressing on to Coyote Hills.
If Dawson heads to the Circle M, he learn straight away where the other group is headed. That would probably be the most intuitive course of action, but anything can happen. All depends on how creative you want to be.
Safe flight! | |
