Nol entered the chamber with Raju and Kellan. None of the guests were allowed to enter the normal way through the courtyard as that was reserved for the bride and her matron. The delegates entrance on the side of the chamber was instead used for the guests. The unusual and extremely ornate three door entrance was rarely fully opened, but for this occasion the two side doors were swung out as wide as they would go and the middle door was up and held fast by the ornate silver chains above it. Sitting on the edge of the door were two swans, majestic and shimmering with an enchantment that caused their feathers to look like glass and catch every fraction of light that dared come near them.

Nol looked over at Kellan and then to Raju, he could see both of them as enamored with the look of the outside of the Chamber of Stars as he was. He felt both of them tense slightly with their emotions as they walked closer and closer. One of the swans turned her head and looked at Kellan. It studied her and almost seemed to smile and recline its head as she passed beneath it and out of its sight.

Raju felt a lump in her throat as she entered the chamber and all three of them could not be more captivated by what the Elves had done to see the wedding of their beloved Ceridwyn and Aeolis be as special as it could be. An usher came to meet them, he was a young elf of great posture and fine of features. He looked to Nol and seemed slightly confused as to which lady he should escort. Raju looked at the young Elf lad and whispered softly, “I doubt you could pry those two apart as they are betrothed aye? Why not just settle for the one in blue.”

The young lad turned his head to her and Kellan would see that he was glad to take her advice. Maybe it was that Raju in her humanoid form was Sylvan Elf, or maybe it was that Nol had somehow indicated that one of the two ladies was off limits, whatever the case was he pleasantly took Raju’s arm and escorted the three of them to the very front of the chamber. In the second row behind where Ceridwyn’s parents were to be sat they were brought just into the middle of the long arching benches and they would see their names magically etched into the wood. It was a place of honor without a doubt. Though they were the first to be sat Kellan would see that from the middle out it was Raju, then Nol and then Kellan. Beside Kellan the name Tara was etched and to the inside was the compliment of soldiers that would be coming from Heartlund, Lady Rose and her entourage, as well as her female aid. Beside Tara was the name Gideon and beside him Pela. Clearly they were all intended to be seated here in this high position.

As Nol and Kellan sat the young elf looked at Raju and spoke, “I do hope you enjoy the ceremonies lady…, I am sorry I have forgotten your name.” Raju looked at him sweetly and spoke, “You have forgotten only because I never gave it, however it is written ever so boldly on this seat I am about to sit in.” The young elf looked at the name and smiled warmly as he nodded, “Raju’min…,” He turned and looked up at her curiously and spoke, “I don’t recognize your name, what is your surname so that perhaps I could know your house.”

Raju smiled warmly and sweetly and spoke in a whisper, “My cousin here and I, we have no surnames, we are but bastards of the Elven kingdoms…” He leaned back slightly at her words and had a look of curiosity on his face, “I don’t understand my lady.”

Raju looked at him and tilted her head flirtatiously, “What is to misunderstand sir but that my father lifted my mother’s skirts and then WISH, lit out like the Abyss was on his heels.”

The young elf was even more confused and spoke, “But… you… I mean, how are you then seated in a place of honor? How is it that you know the Wizard Ceridwyn and the General of the wall guard? Their honor…” Raju leaned forward and placed her slender finger on his lips, “Their honor is to know the hearts and the nature of those around them, not to judge them by their names, aye.”

The young elf stepped back and nodded almost apologetically, realizing he was neglecting his duties to escort others in and moved swiftly back up the aisle to the berated look of one of the ceremony minstrels. Nol would not make eye contact with Raju, simply keeping his eyes forward but shaking his head while trying to contain his smile. “WHAT?” Raju said in seeming protest to what she had just done and Nol smiled as he spoke, “Someday your pranks will come back to haunt you.” Raju looked at her cousin and then to Kellan before turning back to front and whispering with a smile on her face, “Oh I highly doubt that cousin.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn walked with Rayann along the long and winding pathway that lead from the bridal chamber to the massive arching entrance of the courtyards that lead to the Chamber of Stars. Through the courtyard it was a 200 meter walk to the chamber itself. The entire walk to the courtyard Ceridwyn and Rayann walked in ankle deep flower petals, the fragrance of each step lifted into the air as a blessing to the couple about to be wed and filled the entire pathway around them.

Ceridwyn stopped as they came to the last corner and looked at the entrance to the courtyard. She grabed at Rayann’s hand and squeezed it tightly as the sight before her took her breath from her lungs. The 30 meter high arching entrance was completely covered in enchanted spring lilies. The white of the flowers glowed against the dark green of the leaves and not a single speck of the silver archway could be seen beneath them. At the top the massive star that would typically glow in the moonlight was bursting with an array of colors, shifting and sparkling against the dark of the dusky canopy above. Along the entire route through the courtyard trumpeters were lined up, their silver trumpets held rigid before them as they awaited the bride and the Princess. The flower petals got deeper and were now up to both ladies lower calves but they were so light it didn’t restrict their movement. The elegant fragrance of the pollens were so heavenly it demanded one pay attention to its presence.

Ceridwyn inhaled as she fought her tears and squeezed Rayann’s hand, “Never in my days…”

She turned and looked at Rayann, a single tear slipped passed her lower eyelid and Rayann lifted a small silk handkerchief and giving Ceridwyn a look of understanding.

The two ladies made their way to the gateway and began the long walk across the courtyard. As they passed each trumpeter he would lift his instrument and give a blast. The whole scene made Ceridwyn feel as if she was in a dream, floating on flowers and swirling through the air. The scent of the flowers was euphoric and caused her to feel slightly at ease but at the same time each step that brought more of the aroma was juxtaposed against the increasing knots in her stomach. Never since the death of her beloved Knight had she dreamed she would find love again. Never in the events of Aeolis’ possession and treachery did she think she would find love in the most unlikely of places. Never in their time at Heartlund did she think they would both survive to see this day, this one single day of redemption, of peace, of joy and of love. She whispered a soft prayer to Solinari as his moon shone brightly through the canopy onto her. She could almost feel her gods eyes on her as she stepped ever closer to her beloved.

Finally in what seemed to be an eternity she reached the Star Gate and looked into the Chamber of Stars. If she and Rayann had thought the courtyard was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen it was a moon cast shadow to the Chamber itself. Millions of fireflies swarmed along the ceiling. The glow of their tails zipping in a flurry of reds, yellows, greens, and orange as they zipped in seemingly random patterns. The knowledge of nature filled Ceridwyn’s heart and she knew the Queen’s intention with these particular insects. Yes, the glow of their tails was beautiful, but the message was that they were still looking for a mate, using their only means of attraction to search, but below on the chamber floor love was in full bloom along with the flowers.

Water had been enchanted and and flowed up the walls, cascading in an ascension into the darkness of the corners and then trickled back down into silver basins that rang harmoniously as the water returned to repeat the cycle. The shimmer of the movement going up the wall and the sparkle as it fell caused a hypnotic illusion, signifying that protection was all around them. The very floor of the Chamber was now living grass instead of marble, it was velvety and soft under Ceridwyn’s bare feet (as even in this her wedding day she refused to wear shoes), and she curled her toes ever so lovingly into its embrace. The air swirled with a white and purple mist that hung ten meters above the audience, allowing the moonlight to wave and shimmer beneath the glorious glow of Solinari.

Ceridwyn finally managed to exhale as she took everything in and sent a missive to Rayann, ~”This should have been the look of your wedding Princess, not mine.”~ She turned and looked at Rayann almost apologetically, as if to ask forgiveness.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KellanBanner

To say the least, Kellan’s beath was hard to get out as she saw the elegant, natural beauty that surrounded her. Never in all her life had she seen such beauty. Truly the Elves had outdone themselves. The little touches she saw here and there to all of the floral and fawna around her amazed her more than the next thing she saw. And there was plenty to see tonight. She couldn’t help but wonder if it had been this beautiful at some of the other weddings that took place here

As the Elf escort guided them to their seats, Kellan was trying her hardest to remain stoic as Raju merciless teased the Elven escort. There was no doubt she had a mischief streak in her that would never cease to amaze Kellan. And at times it was difficult for Kellan to remain serious on certain issues when Raju was around. She was just glad when Raju understood where the line between mischief and seriousness was and never crossed it. As the young Elf excused himself, Kellan dared to lean forward slightly and glance over at Raju with a grin on her face, keeping her voice at a whisper.

”I am beginning to wonder if a little black dragon blood flows through your veins the way you mercilessly torment others. It’s a good thing I know better”

Movement caught her eye on the other end of the long bench and she saw Tara arriving with her Knight escort, Gideon. With a soft smile and nod, she greeted both of them.

”It’s good to see you again, Tara…Sir Gideon. It seems formal occasions fit both of you well.”

Kellan’s eyes danced when she looked from Tara to Gideon in their finery. They were a well matched pair and the glow on Tara’s cheeks spoke volumes.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Gideon2

Gideon had been so engrossed in his Elven company learning about their ways from the few guards he found to speak to he was almost late in getting Tara and escorting her to the ceremony. Thankfully one of the guards reminded him he had an important event he needed to get to and just as he reached the bottom of the stairs to Tara’s quarters, she was slowly descending them. He was tugging on his formal Knights attire a few final times when he glanced up and saw her coming towards him.

His breath caught and he couldn’t help but stare at her beauty. She looked every bit of a refined lady. The color of her dress was a perfect match to her hair, skin and eye colors. As she finally reached the bottom of the stairs he couldn’t say anything right away. The soft scent of something floral mixed with the slightest hint of woods greeted his nose and he felt as though he was falling under a spell cast by a beautiful enchantress. It wasn’t until Tara finally asked him if he was OK that he was able to find his voice.

”I…uh…forgive me, Tara….I was completely captured by the vision of you. You’re even more beautiful than usual, my Lady. I can’t help but wonder if I will be adequately prepared to fend off other would be suitors.”

Reaching up to touch her blushing cheek, he smiled.

”I will ask apologies now if I tend to hover around you this eve. I fear if I let you out of my sight looking like this I won’t be able to get you back.”

He leaned in and kissed her cheek before straightening and offering her his arm.

”Shall we, m’Lady?”

As they walked through the city towards the Chamber of Stars they were both rather taken aback by the beauty surrounding them. Gideon was never one for finery and the likes of formal ceremonies but even he had to admit the Elves had a way with making their already beautiful city even more so.

As they reached the Chambers, they were escorted to the same long bench already occupied by Nol, Raju and the Lady Kellan. When Kellan looked over he nodded and smiled in kind, Hearing her words, he sat down and, keeping his voice low likewise, smiled and nodded in agreement.

”Must be the company of such beautiful women surrounding me coupled with the elegance of such a beautiful city.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RayannRed

Rayann walked along with Ceri through the city to the Chamber of Stars. Never had she seen Sylvanost look as beautiful as it did now. Not even for her own wedding to Myth’Alas had they done such decorating. Perhaps she should be a little hurt by that but she wasn’t. Rayann knew going into a relationship with Myth things would not be as they would if she were Elven instead of human. It was something she had learned to accept because her love for Myth outweighed anything else. Still, to see the city look so breathtaking made her smile knowing the Elves could still bring awe and surprise and make their city the most beautiful thing on Krynn.

Knowing Ceri saw the same breathtaking beauty surrounding her made Rayann realize it had been quite some time since the city had been decked out the way it was for Ceri’s wedding. AS she wiped the tear from her friends eye, she smiled and nodded feeling that lump form in her throat again.

As they approached the Chamber and Rayann saw the elegance, she felt her heart skip a beat. Her mother-in-law had outdone herself in making sure Ceri’s wedding was nothing but perfect. When she heard her friends voice in her head, Rayann turned to look at Ceri and saw the look she was getting. Closing the gap between them she drew Ceri into a tight, warm hug and spoke to her friends mind.

~nonsense, Ceri….I would have been disappointed if they had not gone to such pain staking details for you and Aeolis. You both deserve nothing but the absolute best and so far, I would say that’s exactly what you’re getting. This is your wedding…worry not about the past….look to your future…and from what I can tell, he’s making his appearance now….~

Rayann released her friend and watched as Ceri turned to gather her composure. Taking her proper place, Rayann waited for the signal for the ceremony to officially begin.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Mythban2

The day had started early for Myth as he exited his chambers slipping off to the training halls for his morning workout. He was a warrior devoted to his craft and there was a great deal to do before the evenings festivities. Myth was a fair but tough teacher and he never passed up an opportunity to instruct in his art, and the his exercises were over all to quickly much to the relief of others warriors practicing in the hall. Several elven warriors had partaken of lessons from the prince, and many of them were both sore and grateful for the experience.

Myth left the halls to check on a few final preparations for Aeolis and Ceridwyns's joining ceremony. The endeavor would eat up the remainder of his morning as he oversaw the placement of the final enchantments. The remainder of the day would be spent on the fine details of the event and Myth was grateful that he was not needed for any of it. He made his way away from the Chamber of Stars and headed for the portal to greet Rose and her entourage from Heartlund. He looked to the sky noting that he would make it to the portal with only minutes to spare.

As he entered the courtyard the portal was beginning to swirl with life. The other elven commanders who had served during the last battle were there as well. These elves had fought and bled on the same field and had a new found respect for these human companions. While there were many of his people who looked down on this shorter lived race the soldiers gathered here held no such opinions. It brought a smile to Myth's face as he stood there waiting with his hands clasped behind his back.

Four soldiers stepped through first dressed in head to toe full plate shining full plate. Myth recognized these men as Rose's personal guard. They were always present and she went nowhere without them. It made people question her combat prowess but Myth knew they were present due to her station and not her lack of skill. He brought his arms from behind and stepped forward as Rose emerged followed by her subordinates. Myth offered a bow and greetings were made. Soldier greeted soldier and laughs were shared. Passers by would have thought it was a group of friends meeting for the first time in years.

Spirits were high and when Aeolis joined the gathering they all wished him good fortunes. Myth was preparing to give Rose and her entourage a tour of the city when a missive came from Rayann. Aeolis and Rose saw the shift in Myth's demeanor. With a bow apologized saying that he had received a message from Rayann and that he and Aeolis had a couple last minute errands that had to be dealt with. Myth left the knights in good hands as he departed with Aeolis.

As they left the group behind Myth could feel Aeolis's growing tension. "Rayann says she feels something unusual and wanted me to check on the guard postings. We have every able soldier on duty today but we should check in on things all the same. Rayann's gut feelings as you know should not be taken lightly." He patted Aeolis on the should and moved on heading for the guard houses.

When Myth was satisfied with the city defenses two elves retired to get Aeolis ready for his big night. Myth's clothes were shades of green and brown arranged to make his braided crimson mane stand out. As with most of his formal attire it was tailored to incorporate his armored bracers and his family sword. The nobility still chided him for his refusal to not leave the blade at home during formal occasions. Myth always reminded them that it was a his symbol as the prince. His sheathed blade showed that he did not seek conflict but would always be prepared to face it.

The bells finally tolled and Myth was grateful since Aeolis was prancing around like a rooster on hot coals. A mental image he was more than grateful to share with his wife. With a final check Myth only smiled when Aeolis inquired about his own nervousness. "To seek the answer to that question my friend you need only ask the men who happened to be in the training halls the morning of my wedding." Myth flashed a wry smile and led his friend to the ceremony head held high and Blue Moon dangling from his side.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Ladyrose2

Rose was only slightly disappointed that Myth and Aeolis had to part company, but she understood better than most the calls of station. She enjoyed the tour of the grand elven city as they were guided by one of the elven commanders. She was impressed by both the beauty and function of the place. Everything had a purpose here and nothing was wasted. There was a great deal that could be learned through her friendship with the Sylvanesti. As quickly as it began the tour ended and Rose and her men were shown to their chambers so that they could prepare.

Rose sat in her room in silence contemplating on matters that would come after the wedding. She was lost in thought when a knock echoed through the room. Rose brought her thoughts to a halt and looked to the door calling out. "Enter..."

Much to Rose's surprise Larissa entered the room with an ear to ear smile on her face. Most noticeably though was that she was not wearing her elven guise. It was not a face Rose saw often but a welcome one. Larissa motioned for a couple elves that were behind her and they brought in an array of boxes. Rose raised an eyebrow and Larissa chuckled "Lady Rose I took the liberty of bringing you something to wear for the wedding." Rose was about to say something when Larissa shook her finger.

"Ah ah... I know everything in your wardrobe Lady Rose and I know good and well you brought only your ceremonial armor. In good conscience and out of gratitude I felt you deserved something better. So I brought you a gift." Larissa beamed as the elves brought up the first box revealing a dark red velvet dress that had a shade of color reminiscent of a full bloom rose.

Rose shook her head as other boxes were brought forward filled with various personalized accessories to go with the dress. A mithral necklace forged into the symbol of paladine. A pair of silver earrings depicting a warhammer silhouetted by the moon of Solunari. With a bemused tone Rose remarked "A gift befitting the human commander called the Velvet Hammer..."

Larissa chuckled "Indeed Lady Rose... now if you will excuse me I have to get ready myself, but I insisted on bringing these to you personally." With a bow Larissa slipped out without another word. Rose shook her head and started to change. She emerged a short time later dressed in all the finery of a lady and not a warrior. Her guards were stunned but kept their mouths closed about the matter. She joined up with the rest of her men and made her way to the Chamber of Stars.

The beauty of the place floored Rose as they entered with the other guests. The scene before her was indescribable and awe inspiring. Her eyes took in everything as she was escorted to her seat by the elven attendant. She managed a polite thank you before he left. Her eyes were still scanning the place as people prepared for Ceridwyn's entrance.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RajuBanner

Raju looked over at Kellan and winked but didn’t say much in response. She did keep a mischievous smile on her face however. There was a slight buzz suddenly and Raju turned to look, she elbowed Nol gently and motioned, Lady Rose had arrived along with her entourage. She smiled as she made eye contact with the commander of the Human Knights and was the first to greet her. As usual Raju was all smiles and warmth, though she was often mischevious she was also respectful and honorable when necessary. Due to the fact her relationship with Rose was only budding she was remaining on her best behavior, “Lady Commander Rose, it is a pleasure to have you join us.”

She leaned back and looked the commander over, with a smile she spoke, “I don’t believe I have ever see you out of military dress, I dare say the outfit not only suits the occasion it also suits you well.” Raju nodded respectfully and stepped back slightly so Nol could come forward. He smiled warmly and spoke, “Commander Rose, it is good to see you again.”

Though he and the Commander had slightly butted heads in the past he kept it in the past. They had a history that was forged on the battlefield, something that could never be broken and he took her hand, lifting it to his lips and kissing the back of it gently, “Someone has taken the liberty of giving us seating assignments, it looks like you are here in the same row as us.” He gestured and they all took their places, engaging in small conversations and soft laughter until the ceremony began.

The sound of horns in the Courtyard suddenly began to blare and everyone knew it meant the bride and her matron had arrived. Slowly each horn was raised as Ceridwyn passed them and added their own note to the overture that was echoing through the Chamber. It grew louder and louder until finally the very walls seemed to shake with the sound. Then suddenly it stopped and the Chamber of Stars went dead quiet.

Suddenly the notes of a lone flute began to linger on the air. Like the afternoon sun warming the skin in summer the song was delightful and welcoming as it lingered in the air. There were no words but the sentiment of love and cherished affection were present, an impression that no one would miss. After several minutes the song softened yet continued to be played as a Priestess of Paladine appeared from the central doorway in the risings at the end of the hall. She was even by Elven standards extremely gorgeous, silver haired and radiant as she stepped onto the central stage. Raju leaned across Nol and whispered to Kellan and Rose, “Araterius, High Priestess of Paladine.” She saw Kellan’s face show her awe and the understanding on Rose’s, surly they at least knew of this Elf Matron but most likely had never seen her, though Raju did not know for sure. Araterius was almost always in the temple of Paladine and very few who were not in the upper workings of the church saw her.

Araterius stepped forward and spoke, her voice was as elegant as a nightingales song and as soft as a gentle morning breeze, “Kin, revered guests, heroes and friends of the betrothed, I welcome you in the name of Paladine.”

She gestured and the flute lifted again in volume as Ceridwyn’s a small delegate of priestess’ in blue dresses of Mishikal walked slowly down the aisle. In their arms they carried effigy’s of her mother and father, long since passed. They were set down in the parental places of honor and the Priestess’ stepped aside and nodded in respect to Araterius. The High Priestess then gestured and Aeolis’ parents were escorted down the aisle and took their places on the grooms side of the aisle.

Myth then walked out from the side of the Chamber, Aeolis right behind him. They both looked dashing and stoic in their formal dress. This was a rare occasion when the Prince entered that the assembly did not stand, on this day that honor would be reserved for only one person. As the two gentlelves took their places the High Priestess Araterius turned and from the opposite side of the Chamber Amayth emerged from the shadows behind the columns. Her white robes were radiant against the backdrop of the dark blue shadows behind her. She took her place in the first row and near the lecturn so she could give her blessing when the time in the ceremony came.

Araterius then glanced up into the darkness above and the sounds of the flute slowly faded from existence. She looked out into the assembled and spoke, again her voice was hypnotic in its beauty and captivated every ear, “We are gathered this 127th day of Krynn cycle to celebrate. Love often finds its place no matter what thistles and thorns attempt to grow around it. Yes my friends, even in the most unlikely of places and under the most adverse circumstances love will find a way. Ceridwyn and Aeolis, a relationship that started in the darkness of evil has triumphantly emerged as the shadows melted away thanks to the power of light.”

She smiled warmly and looked at Aeolis, “For what was the grip of darkness by Tahkisis agent of evil became nothing more than the catalyst to which would blossom one of the most celebrated unions in Silvanesti history.” Her face glowed as she looked into Aeolis’ eyes, “And to that end my dearest Aeolis, I am honored and happy to give you the first glance of your bride…”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn stood behind the veil that was hung beside the main entrance. She could hear the music, the rustling of the crowd and the words being spoken by Araterius. She looked at Rayann and smiled nervously. Ceridwyn was even more pale than usual, her chestnut brown eyes welled slightly and she sniffled as Rayann lifted the silk handkerchief again to dab her friends eyes, “Thank you Rayann, I don’t know if I could have done this without you. She leaned forward and hugged her friend tightly.

Suddenly her stomach went into knots as she heard the words, “…the first glance of your bride…”

As Araterius gestured towards the back of the Chamber, the white, silk veil parted and Ceridwyn stood in her ultimate radiance. She face the front of the Chamber, her hair was pulled back neatly and clasped in place in a seeming random pattern, yet it was in the formation of the seven points of the heavens to those who paid attention. Her hair was curled in tight ringlets and escaped across her face, tied with beads and living ivy. Her dress was simple and elegant, it did not have the normal complexity of Elven clothing but its elegance came from the simplicity of its design. Ceridwyn had designed and stitched it herself and as such the obviousness of her personal style and tastes were present. The subtle folded pleats each glowed from within by beadwork that caught the light and scattered in front of her like the rays of her god’s moon. A narrow belt encircled her petite waist and wrapped around to the back where it was buckled gently with a ring of glass. The belt was slightly shimmery and caught tiny shards of light and then amplified them before her. The dress was full length but gathered close to her legs, her tiny toes poked out just beneath the hem and her ruby red painted toenails stuck out, perfectly groomed for being shown off. The sleeves of the dress were sheer and showed off her tiny pale arms, and up on her left bicep was the tiny silver dagger that all wizards carried as a symbolic Rememberance of Huma. Though weapons were strictly forbidden in the Chamber she still wore it, almost proudly showing it off, after all it was her wedding day, who was going to stop her.

Rayann walked in front of Ceridwyn and unveiled her face. As she stepped beck Ceridwyn looked all the way down the long aisle right at Aeolis. As Elven tradition dictated she was to remain until her soon to be husband welcomed her to come forward and join his family.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Pirabanner

Piramay sat in the quarters that were provided for her contemplating her next move. She had several hours to prepare her plans for the night's festivities. The test of her trinket had gone better than she hoped, but Rayann also presented a unique obstacle. As expected the woman's natural abilities had trigged but the effects were subtle enough that she was not able to pinpoint the cause or effect. With a sigh Piramay tapped her fingers upon the table as her eyes shifted as she visualized the various paths and options before her.

The gift she had started that morning would be ready by the time the ceremony took place. It was a slight variation of her crafted fire dragons that she made in the depths of the towers. Creating true versions would take time, time she just did not have here in Sylvanost. This copy forged from the fiery core of the earthen depths could be just as destructive but not nearly as durable or smart. The next part of her plan for the evening would require a little finess but she was grateful to have found a volunteer for her work. As she stood from her chair she looked to the unconcious woman in the corner as she closed the black book on the table. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as several candles lit around the room as she began to whisper the words of magic.

As the bells rang the reclusive Amayth emerged from her quarters her robes glowing in the moonlight. She took a deep breath taking in the night air and let out a long sigh as she headed to the Chamber of Stars. Even the mage of flame had to admire the sights of the wedding ceremony. It made her smile all the brighter as she went around the great chamber making her way to the designated place obscured from everyone by one of the grand columns. She wated in silence for all the guests to gather and waited patiently for the high priestess to play her part. Her thumb rubbed the charged talisman that hung around her neck depicting the moon of Solunari. It appeared to be nothing more than a holy obect of her diety, but in truth it was charged with magical power drawn from Ceridwyn and other white robes she had met that morning. It would aid in her part of the ceremony.by letting her cast a blessing seemingly empowered by the patron of the white robes. With so many eyes upon her she did not dare to try and use her own power masked or otherwise.

She emerged from the shadows of the column as she was signaled to and crossed to the place she would wait for her moment in the spotlight. Her eyes shifted to the great doors as they opened to admit Ceridwyn and Rayann. Piramay's smile could not be anymore genuine or radiant as she waited patiently.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Aeolis

Aeolis was transfixed by the radiant beauty he saw at the end of what seemed like the longest aisle he’d ever known. Ceridwyn’s beauty was known by all far and wide but there was something about the way she looked right now, this night that made her beauty captivate him even more. It wasn’t until he felt a slight nudge on his arm that he snapped himself out of his trance and blinked, glancing over at Myth (who had the slightest smirks on his face) and cleared his throat softly to step forward and slowly extend his hand, inviting Ceridwynn to join him at the other end of the aisle and into his family.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Healer

Tanjee stood at the end of the aisle and watched Ceridwyn enter. There was no doubt in her mind her brother had made the right choice in asking Ceri to marry him. After all, it seemed only fitting since they both saved each other from a life of loneliness. Not to mention each other’s lives on more than one occasion.

As Ceri began to walk down the aisle, Tanjee felt her throat constrict and tears burn her eyes. This was a day her parents would have been elated to see. She prayed they were able to see from the other side how their children’s lives had turned out. Even though there had been some very dark times.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RayannRed

Rayann couldn’t help but suck in her breath when she saw how beautiful the Chamber of Stars had been decorated. And as she heard the blessing of the High Priestess and Amayth take her spot, she waited for Aeolis to invite his bride forward. Finally the Elf Lord gathered his composure and held his hand out for Ceridwyn.

As Ceri started slowly making her way forward, Rayann followed along a few feet as tradition dictated. She was proud to be Ceri’s Matron and even prouder of how her friend had overcome her fears to find love and live again.

Her lavender eyes drifted to Myth’s emerald gaze and held it for a moment and knew he was thinking similar thoughts as well. It didn’t take a mind reading ability to know that. All one had to do was look at him and see it.

As they drew closer, that slight buzzing started to happen again and Rayann wasn’t sure if it was Amayth or something else causing it this time. There was so much enchantment that had been done, it could easily be that, but again, Rayann’s instincts wouldn’t let her brush that excuse aside.

No. Something else was amiss and it concerned her as to what it might be and what it could mean for her friends and the ceremony with all the dignitaries that had gathered in one place. Glancing at Myth once more he saw the change in her gaze and knew something had crept into her serene thoughts.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KaliBlack

Kali had elected not to sit in the provided place on the floor and had instead hung back and remained off to the side. She watched with an ever vigilant gaze across the entire Chamber of Stars. She was limited however, the enchantments and wardings that had been placed all around the room were so intense she would have been ushered out immediately if she attempted any sort of magic. The Elves were not want to leave any gaps in their protections and she knew that her Grandmother would have seen to it that every precaution which could have possibly been thought of would be addressed.

The crowd hushed and the ceremony had begun. Kali kept her eyes locked on the Priestess of Paladin. Her smile was radiant and beautiful and Kali listened to her words that began the proceedings. She turned her head slightly as Amayth took her place to the lower right side of the stage and then the groom stepped forward with her father Myth in tow. She watched as the announcement of the bride was spoken and all eyes turned to Ceridwyn in the back of the hall. Kali however, kept her eyes on Aeolis. His face spoke a thousand words and his love for Ceridwyn was obvious in that moment. Even Kali, hardened by life and its fate handed to her could not help but feel the right corner of her mouth creep up in a gentle, crooked, smile. She turned and looked now at Ceridwyn and her mother.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn felt her breath catch in her chest, it seemed like an eternity was passing before her as Aeolis simply stood, almost dumbfounded when the massive veils was swept aside to reveal her standing alone at the end of the hall. She stood patiently, watching, waiting… and still he stood. She watched him, her soft brown eyes focused on his features, he wasn’t making the slightest motion, had he changed his mind? Suddenly the Prince nudged him ever-so-slightly and Aeolis blinked back into reality and his cheeks went slightly pink with embarrassment. He stepped forward and extended his hand, and Ceridywn walked forward.

She could hear Rayann’s soft footsteps begin after she was about 10 meters down the aisle. She kept her eyes locked on Aeolis and her thin lips smiled warmly as he reflected back to her the same facial expression. His face was more handsome than she could ever remember but today it was like she was looking at him for the first time. She could not help but wonder what it was like to have been the daughter of an arranged marriage. She remembered when that was still the norm, not in her social circle of course but most certainly when the royals would trade children for stature. What was it like to be the daughter, traded into a relationship, to see the groom only moments before he was to be your husband? She snapped out of her thoughts and smiled all the more brightly to Aeolis, no, hers was a marriage found in love, born of a bond that glued them together in such a manner as was by the gods design.

She sent a missive to Rayann as she hit the half way mark, ~ ” By the gods who made this place so large?” ~ She could hear Rayann’s soft voice return a giggle to her mind, but she could also feel the tension in the magic Rayann used to send it. She inhaled deeply and spoke to Rayann’s mind again, ~ “Calm your spirit my Princess, please. There is nothing to fear, the enchantments and wardings in this place will keep out all negative forces.” ~

For what it was worth Ceridwyn was right, the hall was full of the static reside from all the magic that hung in the air. By all practical and understandable standards this place was a fortress against any sort of encroachment.

Finally Ceridwyn reached the end of the aisle and looked up at Araterius who was radiant with smiles. She looked to the assembled and spoke, “For the history of our kind and kin, we have celebrated the union of love between individuals. We have kept ourselves pure of the evils of this world and strengthened ourselves through our unions and the creations of our houses. Through the blessing of the divine, and the love of our father Paladin, we have lived and survived. On this day we again look to the love that exists by the creation of the gods, and we celebrate.”

She looked at Ceridwyn and smiled, then she turned to Aeolis and spoke, “Aeolis, you are an Elf of high stature, of renowned skill when the defense of our lands was necessary and of great strength both in your body and your heart. As a reverend daughter of Paladin I ask you on this day, before this assembly and the gods above, is it your intent to take into your house Ceridwyn of the house Bol’Shoraes and make her your life mate?”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RayannRed

Ryann knew Ceri was right in that aspect when it came to making sure the Chamber of Stars was well protected and warded against intrusion. But, Rayann thought to herself, what if the intruder was already present? Inadvertently her eyes strayed to Amayth as she stood in the direction she was walking and again Rayann thought there was something…..off….with the mage.

With Araterius’ voice once more sounding, Rayann brought her attention back to the ceremony and halted her footsteps as she stepped up beside her friend. Glancing up at the High priestess then over at Ceri and Aeolis, she saw the way the two looked at each other and she all but forgot about the buzzing in her head. She felt moisture trying to invade her eyes but she blinked it back as best she could before looking to Myth and seeing the slightest of smiles on his lips before he looked back to Ceri and Aeolis.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Aeolis
Did the aisle get longer as Ceri walked to ward me? That was the thought going through Aeolis’ mind the entire time he watched his bride make her way towards him. Finally, when he felt her petite, cool, trembling hand touch his he knew he was not dreaming. His fingers curled protectively around her hand and held it gently as he turned to face Araterius.

As the High Priestess spoke, he glanced at Ceri from time to time and when the time came for him t give his vows, he turned his head to look at her fully. For the briefest of moments he was awestruck once more but he was able to pull himself free from his stupor this time. His voice was clear as his spoke at a volume all could hear but still retained a slight softness to it.

”With all of my heart, with all of my soul, with all that I am, I wish for none other to be my one and only lifemate from this day forward until I no longer draw breath.”

He felt Ceri’s hand tighten slightly in his and he squeezed her hand gently in return, reassuring her he wouldn’t let her down and would always be there for her, no matter what.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn’s hand trembled nervously as Aeolis took it, she felt a tear escape her eye yet again but this time Rayann couldn’t catch it with the silk cloth. The saline droplet hit the ground with a gentle tap and Ceridwyn inhaled softly through her nose to clear her breathing. She felt her whole body begin to shake softly as Aeolis looked into her eyes and speak his vow.

Araterius looked out to the assembled and spoke, “As the words have been spoke, so let this union begin.”

She gestured to the front of the steps where an ornate oak box had been assembled. It was carved and inlaid with ornate runes and symbols of the most ancient of Elven culture, telling a story of not only the the history of their heritage, but the promises of a future of prosperity. The “marriage room” as it was called was an Elven tradition that dated back as far as any could remember. The box was only half a meter tall but the intricacy to which it was detailed had taken months of precise and loving labor to create. As Ceridwyn and Aeolis stepped inside they knelt and looked up at Araterius when they were ready. The High Priestess stepped forward and handed each of them a silk handkerchief in the color of their house and spoke, “Long has the Elven people walked on Krynn. As the first created of the races we hold not only a high place in the natural order, but also a responsibility that is elevated amongst the other nations. Our affinity for the gift the gods have given us both in nature and in mind are what makes us stand apart. With this elevated status however, comes an elevated responsibility to teach and guide the other inhabitants of our world.”

She reached into her robes and removed a small vile of rose water. She sprinkled it on the marriage room and spoke, “Love is the first ingredient of our day, for without love there would be no purpose in this ceremony or its outcome. Long has the rose been a symbol of love, the delicate petals require a soft hand and a gentle touch, but when treated properly and card for they will fill the room with a scent that brings pleasure and comfort, so with the scent of the Rose, I bless this union.”

Next she reached into her robes and removed a small handful of dark black dirt, “She took a handful and rubbed it along the edge of the marriage room, “The second ingredient is dirt, for though it will crawl under the fingernails and stain our clothing the underlying truth is that without it we would not be. For we are of the dirt, and to the dirt we will go, but while there is breath in our lungs we linger above it, growing our food within its nutrients and drawing our very existence from it. Every union will draw from the first ingredient of love, and sometimes we will take more than we give, but may this dirt remind you to replenish the love you start with on a regular basis so that it will never run out of the essential components you need to survive.”

Again Araterius reached into her robes and removed a small vile of red dye, after uncorking the delicate class vessel she dipped a brush into it and spoke, “Place your hands on the rose water and dirt.” Aeolis and Ceridwyn put their hands on the railing of the marriage box and Araterius placed the brush on the outer edge of the wood and pulled the brush across the box, and up and over each of their hands. When they lifted their hands from the box the wood remained showing underneath and she spoke, “Red, the color of life, and of death. For in this life you are bound, in this life you live, you breath, and you can bleed. It is a fluid of vital importance, and also one of horror and pain, but because of it life happens. Our blood is the life that is in our veins, and may you both forever be bonded so long as that blood moves within you.”

A fourth time Araterius reached into her robes and removed two silver rings. She spoke softly as she looked out over the assembled, “As we witness this union I present, these rings, a symbol of the unending cycle of your lives, love and pledge to forever be bonded under the stars, under the sky, under the moons and under the never ending will of the gods above us. Aeolis and Ceridwyn please take the others ring and hold them as the music fills the hall. Take this time to reflect on the commitment you are making and what it means.”

She handed the rings to each of them and spoke again as she picked up the two silk handkerchiefs that represented their houses, tying the material together as the wind instruments filled the hall with beautiful music she tied their right wrists together while the held the rings in their left hands. They both knew that before the exchanging of the rings Amayth would give her final blessing of Solinari, a practice that was necessary since Ceridwyn was a wizard of the white robes. Araterius gave the final pull on the silk cloth that bound their wrists to one another and the music lingered in the air creating a perfet interlude for the two of them to look at each other, catch their breath and pause.

Aeolis would see Ceridwyn’s devotion in her eyes. She looked at his handsome face and never broke eye contact. He could feel her cool wrist as it trembled gently against his, her left hand rocked ever so slightly as she twitched with nervous excitement, but there was no doubt as he looked at her, she loved him more than anything on all of Krynn.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Aeolis

As each vile was removed from Araterius’ robes and the contents spoken of, Aeolis felt a tremor slide through Ceridwyn’s body causing her hand to tremble slightly. Each time he had to force himself to keep his feet firmly planted and remind himself Ceridwyn was strong and this was just nervous jitters and nothing of fear or weakness.

Allt he time he had known her she had proven over and over again she had the strength to face any obstacle that came her way. Bo matter what it was. But that didn’t stop his protective nature from taking the forefront of his thoughts and actions. After all, he had been charged with protecting the city and her citizens for some time and that protective nature bled into many other aspects of his life. And Ceri was no exception.

On occasion he glanced over at her and gave her a reassuring smile only to be captivated by her beauty once more and having to force himself to turn his gaze away. In fact, at times, all he could think was that he wished this part of the ceremony was done and over with so they could get on with the rest of their lives. They had waited long enough and faced death together on many occasions, why make them wait any longer than necessary?

How absurd. This ceremony was more than just tradition and he knew it. It was a symbol of who they were, where they came from and what they were a part of. A feeling of guilt slid through him and he silently berated himself and asked for the Gods forgiveness in thinking so selfishly. Surely they would find forgiveness in his thoughts considering all he and Ceri had been through.

Finally as their wrists were tied together, Aeolis was able to look his bride fully in the eyes and he saw the love she felt for him reflected in her gaze. There was no doubt how much he loved her and there was no doubt her love for him ran as deep and as strong through her soul as his did for her.

And there was no doubt Aeolis was, for once in his life, truly happy.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Pirabanner

When it came to grand events of importance Piramay knew the elves could be quite predictable. The Chamber was so heavily enchanted that it would distort the senses of the wizards present. This she had counted on because it would allow her to mask her secondary casting inside the blessing of Solinari. Her face remained stoic as she watched the gathering with interest taking note of where most of her adversaries stood. This wedding was going to be one for the great elven histories. With that thought a soft smile spread over her lips as the High Priestess took the rings into her hands.

Without hesitation the gathering watched Amayth move to stand near the high priestess. With a respectful nod Amayth looked to the couple and brought her hands from within her robes."Blessed are those who know the call of magic, but equally blessed are those whom find a love that they pledge their life to. High sorcery in all its facets requires the dedication of one's life to unravel all the secrets and mysteries, but there comes a time when the heart resonates with a greater calling." Amayth smiled focusing on Ceridwyn a moment and then Aeolis. "Standing here I hear the heartsong of these two individuals. Solinari in his great wisdom knows that to deny the heart is to deny something from the mages dedication. To show his understanding let him bless this union."

Piramay drew forth the power stored in her necklace and used that power to weave the ancient blessing of Solinari. Webbed within in that blessing was a secondary effect that would rest upon Ceridwyn herself. The room buzzed with the power of Solinari as Amayth cast her blessing upon the couple. With a smile her hands returned to her robes as she bowed her head slightly "Solinari watch over and protect you both." Amayth stepped away returning to her place to the side of the assemblage. Everything was in place and now all she had to do was wait for the precise moment. The enchantments over the chamber ensured her chance would be momentary and that there was likely going to be some damage, but that was a non-issue. Amayth's eyes were upon the couple as she looked for the tendril of power beneath the earth.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RajuBanner

Nol sat and watched as the ceremony progressed. He felt an undeniable sense of happiness for Ceridwyn and Aeolis. They held a very special place in his life, for together they had fought an incredible evil and found a common victory due to their working as a team but there was much more to this story that actually saddened him. Ceridwyn was more to this world than a Silvanesti White Robed Wizard, she held a very prominent place in Dragon culture, but this was a highly guarded secret. He was sure not even Aeolis knew and that was what started to cause him a hint of sadness. Though he was just a whelpling when the ceremony had occurred he knew the significance of it and the importance, but ultimately it meant that Ceridwyn would long outlive Aeolis, that he would age and die over time but she would never change. Eventually he would have to tell her, it was inevitable.

He watched as Aeolis looked into Ceridwyn’s eyes and could not help but smile, in time all would be revealed, of this he was certain. Suddenly he felt a hand touch his. He was already holding Kellans hand and it was resting gently on his right knee, but Raju had reached across and placed her hand on top of his, putting his between Kellan’s and his cousins. He turned to look at Raju and she was a bundle of tears. He stifled a laugh and remained silent but spoke to hers and Kellan’s minds ~ “You always were a sucker for love Raj’…”~ Kellan could feel Raju’s hand tighten even through Nol’s and she knew that if it wouldn’t be so completely inappropriate that it would disrupt the entire ceremony Raju would most likely be tackling Nol to the ground to give him a good thumping.

The music stopped and Raju focused her attention back to the ceremony but Kellan saw the glimmer in her eyes, Nol’s words were not going to go unchallenged. The White Robed wizard went to the front and spoke, her voice resonated over the crowd as it was gathered in the acoustically perfect hall and all present were caught in the moment of Solinari’s blessing. Raju felt tears flow again, her cheeks glistened with the happiness of watching this union occur.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn watched as Amayth walked over and spoke her words. They were words that Ceridwyn herself had spoken dozens of times when she was asked to be present at a union of wizards, but to hear them spoken again but this time for her was beyond words. She smiled warmly as she felt the blessing of her god surround her, it warmed her heart, and her mind to feel the presence of her deity, to know he was watching over her in this moment of moments. As Amayth retreated back to her spot Ceridwyn mouthed a small ‘thank-you’ and was warmed even more by Amayth’s gentle nod in return. She turned and looked at Aeolis, her eyes lingered on his face and she spoke to his mind, “I love you…”

Araterius stepped back to the front and spoke, “For with these blessings, both of Paladin and of Solinari, this union shall be made all the more strong.”

She turned and looked at Aeolis, “Aeolis of Silvanost, Guardian of the City, Champion of Rangers and Sentinel of the Royal Grounds, on this day, before Paladin and before this assembled, do you take Ceridwyn Bol’Shoraes to be your partner, your lifemate, your companion and your bride from this day forwad not matter the circumstances? Do you promise to protect her honor, cherish her friendship, guide her steps before the gods, keep her in your embrace and love her for as long as there is blood in your veins, breath in your lungs and winds on the hills? If so then before this assembly I charge you to say you do.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KellanBanner

Kellan was having trouble swallowing down the lump that had formed in her throat and keep the tears that threatened to form in her eyes at bay. The significance of this ceremony wasn’t lost to her. She knew how important and how precious it was to not only Ceridwin and Aeolis but to the Elven people as well.

When she felt Raju’s hand rest on Nol’s, she glanced over and saw the tears in her sister’s eyes and felt the moisture in her eyes build once more to an almost unstoppable overflow. Even her blinking coulnd’t stop the pools from forming forcing her to raise her hand and gently wipe them away before they spilled down her cheeks.

When she heard Nol’s voice in her head, she couldn’t help the silent chuckle that caused her to shake her head. As she felt the pressure increase in Raju’s hand, Kellan looked over at Raju once more and saw the tears flowing coupled with the spark in her eyes. Nol, unfortunately, was going to pay for that comment. And Kellan was certain it would be sooner rather than later.

As she once more gained her composure, Kellan turned her attention to the ceremony, interested to witness the rest of this beautiful union that was taking place.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Aeolis

Aeolis was forcing himself to breathe steady and strong for not only his own sake but for Ceri’s as well. After all, he needed to make sure they both held their composure as long as they could. Over and over again his chest rose and fell with his breathing.

As Amayth gave the Blessing of Solinari, Aeolis smiled at the mage and nodded ever so slightly silently giving his thanks for her part in this ceremony. Of course when the time was right, he would thank her personally himself.

As Araterius spoke once more and reaffirmed, for the Gods and gathered, the vows of taking his lifemate, he smiled proudly and looked over at Ceridwyn raising his voice for all in the Chamber to clearly hear his words

”I do.”

Aeolis didn’t think he could smile any more broadly than he was but when he saw the look Caridwyn gave him and her own smile, he felt his smile grow even more. So much so that his cheeks began to ache from the constant smile he was now wearing.

Ceridwyn smiled from ear to ear when Aeolis spoke, she inhaled deeply and turned as Araterius spoke to her, “Ceridywn Bol’Shoraes of the river lands, White Robed Wizard of Solinari, Counsel to the Speaker of the Stars, Representative of High Order of the Wizards Council and Champion of the Order of the White Moon, for your part and your life do you before this assembly take Aeolis of Silvanost to be your partner and lifemate, your companion and your husband, from this day forward no matter the circumstances? Do you promise to love him and protect his honor, cherish his friendship, guide his steps in the light before the gods, keep him in your embrace and love him for as long as there is blood in your veins, breath in your lungs and winds on the hills? If so then before this assembled and before your god Solinari I charge you to say you do.”

Ceridwyn inhaled deeply and turned back to look at Aeolis, she smiled warmly and began to open her mouth to speak.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KaliBlack

Kali suddenly sent a missive to her Rayann, her voice was filled with urgency, ~ “MOTHER, there is dark magic present! I know not from where, but it is present!” ~

Kali only referred to Rayann as ‘mother’ when it was vitally important or she was annoyed with her, it was clear in her voice that she was not annoyed. She stepped from the shadows, much to the annoyance of many around her that she would dare disrupt the vows and began to search the Hall. She was almost all the way in the back and her eyes scanned quickly and carefully, the signature was a bouncing echo, it was minute, almost non-existent, and it was slightly familiar. It had a lacing of ambient, raw magic and then suddenly she went ever so pale… her voice penetrated Rayann’s mind and reverberated as Rayann heard one name, ~ “Fifth…” ~ She reached into her robes with the intent of casting a ‘locate person’ spell but the instant she began to attempt and draw magic the room retaliated and forced a spike into her mind that caused her to gasp with pain and instantly drove her to the floor. She was on her hands and knees, gasping for air. Never in her days would she believe the Silvanesti were capable of such magic given their only following the path of light when it came to Sorcery. She spit on the ground to clear the small amount of bile that she had coughed up and stood back to her feet on wobbly legs. She clenched her eyes to clear the tears of pain and get a clear focus on the Hall again.

Nol and Raju watched as Araterius spoke out the vow for Ceridwyn. The both listened and Nol squeezed Kellan’s hand ever so lightly as the words came out and concluded, all eyes turned to Ceridwyn and listened for the words that would seal the union between the two High Elves of Silvanesti. Like a foggy dream Ceridwyn responded, Raju let out an audible gasp as the single word escaped the white Elves lips…

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 CeriBanner

Ceridwyn looked at Aeolis, her smile broadened and suddenly her face seemed to take on a new characteristic of deeper love than he had ever seen within her. Her eyes glassed over slightly and she spoke with an almost gravely voice, “No.”

Ceridwyns face went pale and she looked at Aeolis, the entire assembly seemed to pause in shock as she spoke and the look on Aeolis face was of complete disbelief, Ceridwyn swayed ever-so-slightly and through the silk handkerchiefs the grip of her hand released his as she felt the world slip to foggy, then grey, and then ultimately to black.

Slumping forward she landed into Aeolis’ chest and he could tell that there was nothing but dead weight, she was completely unconscious. As he rolled her over her face was drained of all color except for the slight blue around her lips, her breathing was shallow and raspy and sweat covered her whole face. Just as the assembly stood to see what happened the entire floor of the Hall of Stars began to shake violently.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Ladyrose2

Rose sat and watched the entire ceremony in awe and wonderment. While elves could be a stubborn haughty race they were capable of the most amazing things. This grand wedding was nothing short of amazing and Rose knew she would likely never see anything like it the rest of her days. Though she barely knew them and had only been told stories she could see the love flowing between the two of them. A small personal prayer to her god as the priestess conducted the ritual was her own offering to this assemblage. The priestess alone was enough to impress Rose. As a paladin she knew of the woman, and the honor of her presence was not lost on Rose.

She watched the scene with her breath held as the final questions were asked. Nothing on earth could have prepared her for what happened next. Rose stood there with her jaw upon the floor stuck in a trance until the hall began to shake violently.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Pirabanner

With a slight smile Amayth smiled as the inensity of the event hinged on Ceridwyn's voice. Piramay's mind pulled hard on the tether she had laced into the blessing and at the very moment Ceridwyn went to speak Amayth's lips moved ever so slightly forming the word that came from the elven woman's mouth. The audible gasp and shock that spread over the room was exilerating, but she forced a look of shock upon her face as she let loose the tether beneath the earth.

The room began to shake more and more as a deep fissure began to split the center isle. The green grass withered away from the heat the erupted forth. A familiar laughter to some filled the great hall as a molten beast made of fire and earth drew itself from the deep crack. It roared mightily as it looked around lashings it's tail. Sitting proudly upon te beasts back with a smug look upon her face and a wild look in her eyes was Piramay, or so it seemed to everyone present. In truth it was a woman possesed by powerful magics and molded by a powerful polymorph spell. The real Piramay smiled inwardly as she admired her work while doing her best to look shaken.

The gentle voice of Piramay drifted through the room "Dear me... I do hop I haven't spoiled anything."

Myth stood at his friends side tall and proud. He could barely hold back the tears as the final question was asked. Then he saw the hazy look pass over Ceridwyn's face and he felt his stomach fall as the words passed from her lips. Myth's own eyes went wide as he stood there in shock before Ceridwyn collapsed. The great warrior was struck both dumb founded and speechless. Then caming the shaking of the great hall and her heard the earth sunder in the center of the room. The familiar laughter of an insane mage rang in his ears.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Aeolis

Aeolis stood smiling at Ceridwyn as Araterius spoke the vows and asked instructed his bride to answer. The answer that fell from her lips and reverberated in his ears and mind was not the answer he expected. Was this some sort of joke played upon him? Were the Gods toying with his emotions? Before the answers to those questions could be given Ceridwyn fell forward and he instinctively reached out to catch her. Instantly he knew she was in dire trouble as he saw the blue tint of her lips and the shallow, almost nonexistent breathing.

Ceri? Ceri? CERI! Answer me!"

When the ground first began to shake he thought it was some sort of spell she was casting but all too soon he realized the reason for the movement. Quickly picking Ceri up and cradling her in his arms, he moved closer to Myth and watch, in horror, as the floor of the Chamber of Stars opened up and a beast the likes he'd seen from the not so distant past erupted from the depths.

"By the Gods..."

The heat was incredible and he moved with Myth as quickly as he could to keep up with the Prince to get away from the heat as fast as he could. As Myth stopped to gather up his wife, Aeolis stopped and turned as he heard Piramay's laughter fill the Chamber. Anger like a red hot coal filled him and it was all he could do to hold onto Ceri and not try to see if he could reach her as she sat atop the beast.

As Rayann screamed at the mage, Aeolis wanted to join her but he HAD to get Ceri to safety, and there was no time to lose. He looked to Myth and saw the Prince's hand resting on Blue Moon. Now with the disruption in the enchantments, surely SOMETHING had to work here.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RayannRed

Rayann visibly startled when she heard Kali's voice in her mind and almost at the same instant she snapped her head around to look for the source of the dark magic Kali felt. Instinctively she attempted to cast a locate spell of her own and as Rayann heard the one word she dreaded - and hated - the most, she felt an unbelievable pain wrack her head causing her to lurch forward as her knees buckled. The floor thudded with the impact she had with it and it was only through sheer determination she didn't fall flat on her face.

The pain felt as though her brain was being seared inside her head and she grit her teeth to fight through it. Having no choice but to drop her defenses so she could stop the pain, Rayann forced her head up and let her eyes level on Amayth just moments before she saw Ceridwyn collapse and fall forward into Aeolis' arms. The pain she felt coursing through her was nothing compared to the anguish she saw reflected in Aeolis' eyes mixed with the shock of what he heard just before Ceridwyn passed out.

Dragging herself to her feet, one agonizing movement at a time, she stood on unsteady legs and looked around to see where Kali was and what happened to her before she pulled her gaze to seek out Myth just as the floor began to shake and shudder violently. Rayann felt her body drop again and she was struggling to try and regain her feet as the floor of the Chamber began to split open when she felt strong arms pull her up and practically drag her to one side of the room.

Turning her confused gaze up to look at who had a hold of her, she was relieved to see that it was Myth but at the same time, she was worried by the look on his face. What was happening? Why was Ceri being carried in Aeolis' arms? Why was the room erupting in screams and panic? Kali....KALI! Where was Kali?? Struggling against Myth's hold it sounded like someone else talking when she practically screamed at him to let her go and look for Kali.

The sound of Piramay's insane laughter caused her to pause as she watched the feral, molten beast come forth. Fear gripped the Red Mage as she realized exactly what was happening right before her eyes. By the Gods...that fire witch had found a way to ruin the most special day of Ceri and Aeolis' life. How dare she? HOW DARE SHE???!!! A feeling Rayann had not known before began to build within her. This woman had turned hurt her daughter so deeply, physically, mentally and emotionally, that Kali had changed radically. The damage to Heartlund and the whole of Krynn was so bad it would take centuries for it to completely heal and now she had come here to this sacred event to bring forth a beast that was nothing less than an abomination.

Piramay! You bitch!"

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KellanBanner

Kellan sat holding her breath in anticipation as she heard the vows asked and Ceridwyn to say the word but when all she heard was no resonate throughout the Chamber, Kellan was as shocked and dumbfounded as the rest of the guests. Her mouth gaped open and her eyes grew wide as she looked on at the scene unfolding before her eyes. It was as if she were watching in slow motion as she saw Ceridwyn fall forward and the ground begin to shudder. She saw Rayann fall and then the very center of the Chamber itself opened up and drew forth a beast that was so hot she felt her skin almost instantly blister from the heat of it.

Flashbacks of the final battle at Heartlund played out before her eyes and she gasped just as she felt Nol's strong arms pull her away from the area. Finally she snapped out of her stupor and blinked as she quickly found her feet and gathered up her skirts so she could move much faster with her legs free of the material. As the laughter of the mage Piramay filled the Chamber, Kellan looked up at the rider on the beast and grit her teeth. That woman was making a mockery of everything that was sacred. Something HAD to be done but what? No one here was prepared for such a thing. So now what were they all going to do?

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Color_10Tara felt Gideon take hold of her hand as the vows were spoken by the High Priestess and she felt the gentle squeeze he gave her. She couldn't help but lean into him sitting there. She felt his lips on the top of her as he kissed her hair and she smiled. But when Ceri said 'no', Tara and Gideon both gasped. What in the world would have made Ceri say no to the man she loved above all others? Then the shaking began and the heat filled the large room. She felt Gideon grab her, yelling at her to get to safety but as usual she was more worried about the others and any children that were there.

Shaking free of his hold, Tara lifted her long skirt and raced towards Tanjee when the fissure began and was knocked to the floor by the severe quakes. Getting to her feet, she looked around for her best friend to make sure she was safe when the beast came out of the great rift in the floor. She heard Gideon yelling for her and looked at him. He seemed miiles away when in fact he was only yards from her. She heard him holler that the children were all safe, him knowing that the elves would protect the little ones first. As she turned back to the enemy at hand, her hand automatically went to her sword only to remember that no one was allowed any weapons unless they were ceremonial.

She realized that there was nothing she could do and ran towards Gideon, hoping and praying that Tanjee was okay for she'd not seen her since the shaking began.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KaliBlack

Kali felt the tremors in the ground and instantly cast a hover spell on herself. Her body lifted several feet off the ground and she moved off to the sides and under the protection of the archways. As the ground erupted upwards in the center of the Hall of Stars she watched as dozens of Elven royalty instantly lost their lives to the molten flames, their bodies liquidizing under the amazingly intense heat. She shielded her eyes as she tried to get a grip on what exactly on Krynn was going on. The stink of this magic was obvious, it was the same magic that Fifth had used to pervert and warp the natural magic of Krynn. Kali felt her lust for power well up within her and she drank in the feeling of sensation of darkness that began to swim all around her. The smell of burnt flesh and silk caught the air and hung in a sickening manner. It almost mocked the living and begged them to chance a look at their slain kin. Kali, Princess of the Silvanesti and Archmage of the Order of the Black robes stepped forward and watched as the flaming dragon emerged from the fissure in the burning floor. As the massive flaming talons struck the marble and burned their mark into the floor she felt the hatred well up inside her as she looked upon the face of her only true enemy, Piramay.

She cursed under her breath and moved swiftly to put herself in a less vulnerable position, surly Piramay would know she was here, and if she was seen there was no doubt in her mind that Piramay would make an attempt at her. She moved to get into the chaotic crowd and watched, waiting for the right time to make her move, all the while she was seething internally with each passing second, so much so that she had already shut her mind down to not allow anyone to locate her, not even Myth or Rayann, this was her time, her chance to strike down the one who needed to die and she wouldn't let it be spoiled by anything, or anyone.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RajuBanner

Nol was instinctively shaking his head 'no' as Ceridwyn's words came from her lips. the look and sound of shock was immediately swallowed by the sound of wrenching stone and earth as the floor ripped open and the ornate oaken benches were splintered or burned by the fire that burst through the gaping hole in the ground. He reached immediately and grabbed for Kellan, lifting her from the danger and leaping in a long arch to the side. Raju was right behind him and together they hooked arms with Kellan and lead her to the side of the hall. Nol and Raju could both feel the darkness of the magic and knew it's signature, however it was not Fifth on the dragon but Piramay. Kellan turned to look at Nol and he immediately recognized her expression, she wanted to take to the air upon his back and meet the foe head on. He shook his head 'no' and she was cross with him, he did not have time to explain but this was not the time or the place, simply it was not their fight. With a look to Raju who nodded in affirmative response Nol got low and moved along the wall towards the exit which was now bottle necked with survivors attempting to flee. They were not getting out that way, he was certain on that matter.

Kellan grabbed him and looked him dead in the eye and Nol spoke, "No Kellan, NO. Raju and I can not be discovered here, Piramay can NOT know we are present. If she finds out she will burn the city to the ground!"

Raju looked at Kellan and then to him before she spoke in a harsh whisper, "Chances are she is going to do that anyway, we might not want her to know we are here, but we certainly don't want her to kill half the citizens of Silvanost!"

He looked at her and then to Kellan, they would see on his face that this was against his better instincts but he shook his head as he responded, "Very well, very well... Raju, transport yourself and Kellan to our quarters, Kellan, get your sword and whatever else you can grab in five seconds, you don't have the normal thirty minutes to suit up in your armor, not that you brought your plate with you anyway. Come back to the courtyard right behind this wall, do you understand?"

Raju was already moving as she nodded and Kellan barely felt her hand get grabbed by Raju's when she found herself in her quarters, Raju right beside her, "Quick sister, grab your sword, and... and..."

She ran over, grabbing the soft, informal light leather armor and threw it to Kellan. Kellan would know that this armor offered little more protection than thick robes as it was designed more for protecting from the winds as she flew than battle. Raju did not seem to care as she whirled around the room and then spun grabbing at Kellan, "Come...," She wiggled her fingers impatiently..., "SISTER COME!"

The instant Kellan touched Raju's fingers they were immediately among the chaos once again, the putrid smell of burnt flesh, hair, silk and oak filled the air with a thick choking smoke and Kellan looked around for Nol. He was no where to be found and she concentrated intensely on finding him. Suddenly from behind them they heard a smashing sound on the wall and Nol's foot came through, followed almost immediately by his whole body, his suit was shredded and covered in dust. Raju didn't make the slightest crack as she turned back to watch the horror of those poor Elves that were pouring through the side entrance to the Hall of Stars. Turning back to Kellan and Nol she spoke, "Many are in need of healing, go, I will find you." She saw the look on Kellan's face and she smiled sadly, "Such is the nature of warfare sister, worry not, we shall see one another again."

With that she sprinted towards the crowd that was breaking in chaotic fashion through the streets, looking for any solace of safety that their beautiful city might find. Nol turned to Kellan who was fumbling with the armor, he looked at her curiously about her choice but did not argue as he spun her to buckle it as she strapped her sword onto her waist, "Gods what I would give for a dragonlance and your armor that gives you protection from dragons breath..."

She returned the look that said 'thanks mister obvious' and he turned and a brilliant explosion of light flashed over the entire area. He stood in his dragon form and felt Kellan on his back in almost an instant. He pushed off and his wings beat a loud thumping as he got himself airborn, twisting his way through the trees so they could get a higher vantage on the area. He spoke to Kellan's mind, ~ "The Hall of Stars, as you know, has an open roof, let's go up and see if we can find an advantage there!" ~

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Healer

Tanjee, like the rest of the gathered guests, was just as shocked by Ceridwyn’s word but what happened next was something no one ever thought could happen. As the floor of the Chamber opened up and a beast form the bowels of Krynn came forth, Tanjee felt the immense heat, saw the way it devoured her kin in a matter of seconds, heard the agonizing screams and smelled the burning flesh. She wasn’t present at that last battle in Heartlund but she had an idea it was something very similar from the after math she found when she arrived.

She heard a voice scream her name and she saw Tara running towards her with Gideon trying hard to catch up to the woman. Tanjee was just getting ready to yell at her friend to not come towards her when she heard a crashing and saw a large piece of debris coming at her. There as barely a seconds chance to dive out of the way or she would have been crushed.

Rolling so hard she slammed up against the wall of the Chamber, she felt the air painfully rush from her lungs and she began to gasp for air to return. Stars appeared in her vision and she withered in pain as the air slowly refilled her lungs. Finally taking in a huge gulp of the precious element, she coughed and dragged herself to her feet. She had to get out of here or she was doomed as the others who were caught in the panic of trying to escape.

Keeping to the far side of the Chamber, beneath the strength of the pillars to protect her, Tanjee began creeping along the wall while keeping a wary eye on the molten beast. The intense heat was overwhelming but she didn’t dare stop and seek shelter for there was none to be found. She had to keep moving forward.

As the wall suddenly crashed in, Tanjee snapped her head around to see a gaping hole had been created and those seeking escape poured through it like water from a broken dam. Tanjee followed with them and saw Raju, Nol and Kellan. As Raju headed into the panicked crowd, Tanjee followed her knowing what she was doing. As the sound of large, flapping wings filled the air, Tanjee caught up to Raju.

”Raju! I shall come with you!”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KellanBanner

Kellan was glad Raju spoke up. Not that she was l ooing for a fight but these poor Elven people had been caught so unexpectedly by the violence that was now in their beloved city, she felt she just couldn’t leave them to fend for themselves. While she didn’t want Nol to expose himself, they HAD to do something. So with Raju’s rationing she suddenly found herself in her chambers and immediately wrestling out of the gown she had on. Thankful she opted NOT to go with tradition and wear all the frilly under things, Kellan quickly grabbed her trousers and tunic tugged them on with her boots just seconds before Raju shoved her leather armor and sword into her hands.

In the next instant she was back among the smoke, dust, debris, and charred smells of the chaos that was now the Chamber of Stars. While the leather armor wasn’t as cumbersome to put on as her usual plate armor was, it wasn’t as easy as normal clothes either. As she struggled to get the pieces on Nol had to step in and help her. With comments, of course.

Finally they were skyward bound and Kellan leaned in low over Nol’s neck to allow him to get maximum altitude in minimal time, not to mention keep most of the wind rolling over her back as her legs squeezed around his shoulders and felt his massive muscles flexing beneath her. As they climbed higher and higher and Nol began to even out and circle overhead of the destruction, Kellan looked down and let the words slip past her lips in an anguished whisper

”By the Gods….such destruction of such a beautiful and sacred place.”

As the Elves kept pouring out of the Chamber and scattered out into the city looking for shelter against the beast and its mistress, Kellan looked back at the beast through the opening of the Hall of Stars roof and furrowed her brows as she saw the total destruction the beast was bringing forth.

”What I wouldn’t give to have Pela’s ice magic right about now and douse that abomination full blast.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Pirabanner

Laughter filled the air as the beast thrashed about. The smell of charred flesh filled Piramay's senses and it was all she could do to keep the look of concern on her face as she watched her beast and puppet make their entrance. The surviving guests were making there way through any opening they could. Listening she could hear the screams of rage of Rayann and she knew the others would be moving to take action soon. After sweeping a group of people past she reached out and stopped a couple of white robes as they passed.

"You two assist me..." they looked confused "Barriers we need to keep her in the Chamber of Stars lest she burn the whole city do. Get any mage outside the chamber you can to help. Force. air, cold... I don't care what just get this place sealed." She shoved them away and reached out touching her left wrist. Drawing her hand away she pulled a vine from the bracelet that grew and twisted itself in her staff. She slammed the end of the staff into the earth erecting a barrier around herself and the entrance as her double looked her way. The fake drew back her hand drawing fire from the beast beneath her into a brilliant ball before tossing it to the air were it hovered for a moment before exploding into a dozen small balls of fire that streaked in random directions exploding where they struck.

"Come now you people are spoiling all the fun." The woman laughed as the beast belched out a gout of flame as it dragged its head in a strafing motion.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Mythban2

Myth grit his teeth as he watched the beast and the woman that controlled it. The heat was intense and he knew that there was no way to close in on the beast to use his blade. He cursed as he watched the ball of fire lift into the air before it spent itself firing off the small fireballs. Myth stepped forward as one raced towards Rayann. A flash of blue and Myth was standing before Rayann Blue Moon drawn. The small ball of fire exploded but the the flames and air of the attacked were drawn across the glowing runes of Myth's blade. Myth could not attack the beast or rider, but he could defend his wife by redirecting what was cast her way. It was a rare situation but one that they had always planned for. He barely spared a glance back to his beloved.

"Find peace in the chaos Rayann... blind rage will not avail us here this day. Observe, assess, and respond..." Three words that were his mantra when they trained in the wilds years ago. He could feel that Kali had closed herself off but this was not the time to worry. There were still people to defend and a beast to slay.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Ladyrose2

Rose was lost in the moment until her men yanked her away as the heat filled the chamber. She could feel the moisture evaporating in the heat and looked around seeing the all to familiar death around her. She reached down to the hemn of her dress and was about to yank it off when one of her guards grabbed her hands. "No milady we need to get you out of here..."

Rose struggled "There is a beast to be slain and people to protect... I will not forsake my duties to...."

The guard endured and twisted her around hoisting her up "Duty or not Lady Rose you are unarmed and without your armor. Paladine can will forgive you this moment. Your duty is to aid those in need, not die in a rage driven moment of stupidity." He felt Rose relax and start to slump. She would not say anything knowing he was right. She trusted her men to think when she could not and this was one of those times. The guards shielded Rose ushering her out of the room with the remaining guests. Unfortunately that guard only regretted his choice for a moment as one of the errant fireballs struck his back and exploded flinging his body into the wall. The last thing he saw was his commander being dragged from the chamber before darkness consumed him.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Color_10Tara felt Gideon grab her hand as she made it to him, the beautiful place crumbling all around them. She could feel the heat coming off the beast and said a quiet prayer for those who'd already lost their lives and another prayer for those who were to fight the beast.

"Don't let go of my hand, Tara!!!", Gideon yelled to her and she had no intention of doing so as she stayed close behind him. A piece of ceiling fell close to them, knocking both of them off their feet. Separated now, Tara found herself further away from Gideon from dodging falling debris. She got to her feet, hearing him holler for her when she noticed a lady mage and two of the white robes. Something seemed off to her with the lady mage and she stood there staring at her. She looked very concerned about what was going on and yet.......somehow it seemed as if it were forced. But that couldn't be. She was an elven mage.....not the enemy. She shook her head as if to clear it when she heard Gideon yell for her again, snapping her out of her trance like state. He came to her and grabbed her hand again, pulling her to safety and to where the others were waiting to see what would happen.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KaliBlack

Kali reached into her robes and removed two handfuls of reagents as the balls of fire exploded all around the Chamber. She grit her teeth as the heat moved around her and she was filled with the memories of pain she had endured from the moment Piramay’s fireball had hit her at the Battle of Heartlund. The air around her crackled with static as she began gathering magic and though her face was focused there was obvious anger and hatred etching lines across her features.

She stepped around from behind the column she was taking cover behind and hissed words of magic, releasing the two handfuls of reagents into the air. Instantly a black sphere of shadow engulfed her and she was protected from the elements. The sphere was so powerful that it gave pause to all magic users in the room who were near her. This was an unprecedented concentration of power and Kali was standing directly in the middle of it. She moved her hand in an arch and her staff appeared from the shadow, forming itself and becoming solid in her hand. She narrowed her hatful glare onto Piramay and began walking straight at her. As Piramay turned and looked at Kali she cackled and the beast let forth a massive blast of molten breath that exploded and broke over the top of Kali’s shielding. Kali continued to walk forward undaunted and reached into her robes again, removing a powdery reagent that sparkled in the fires that blazed all around them. Kali hissed words of magic and thrust her hand forward, the combined power of the sphere, the natural magic around them and the words of magic swirled before her like a marble and she thrust her hand forward. The sphere shot outward from her and smashed into the mouth of the beat, bursting open and a sickening black ooze filled the creatures mouth, rendering its ability to fire off the deadly breath weapon. As the beast roared and moved its mouth to try and clear the sticky tar like substance it got stickier and thicker, slowly but surely the beast was rendering itself less and less a threat for the more it struggled the more it became entrapped.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 NolBanner

Nol didn’t disagree with Kellan, and though they were without Pela, they still had his breath weapon, and he would use it. As they twisted out of the trees and then back into them Nol landed on the open roof of the Chamber of Stars and looked down, fires were beginning to spread as the beast kept billowing flame and Piramay’s balls of fire exploded in two dozen locations simultaneously. He felt Kellan pat his right side and he turned to look at what she was referring to. The curtains along the stage side had been lit and the fire was creeping up towards them, they were still safe but it was the most potentially lethal to the. Kellan would feel the muscles in his neck ripple and the motion moved downwards, a sensation she had come to know. The scales of his neck suddenly got very cold as the glands in his throat began to pump and mix the naturally occurring liquid nitrogen and liquid helium in his body. The glands on either side of his throat pulsed under her legs and in an instant he opened his mouth and a column of intensely cold fog shot forth and immediately extinguished the large fire along the whole stage area. The cold froze everything solid and though he had managed to not hit any living thing he had come very close. Kellan tapped his neck again and he turned, she screamed that Piramay was vulnerable and Nol focused his gaze, the glands began to throb and he reared his head back but then stopped. Kali had emerged from the flames and was standing too close to Piramay now, he would definitely hit her if he were to breath. He shook his head, “I can’t, Kali.”

Raju slowed enough for Tanjee to catch up as she yelled ad Raju responded, “And it will be good to have you friend…”

The two made their way and immediately were surrounded by Elves who were charred and burnt, screaming in pain as their flesh was peeling from their bodies. Raju furrowed her brows and looked at Tanjee who shared the same face of concern and horror, without a word the two of them knelt and began praying over victims, the blue light of Mishikal erupting from their hands as they placed their medallions on their victims or touched their wounds. The smell of burning flesh only continued however as more and more victims were making their way, recognizing the blue light as the place to be restored.

Over and over Raju felt the power of healing move through her and bring wholeness back to those who had been injured. She turned suddenly as a voice spoke from behind, “Please Master Healer, please… my wife!” She turned to look at the Elf speaking to her and in his arms was a woman who was battered and bloodied. Raju recognized the Elf but she could not place him. As she took a quick scan she saw the royal insignia on his chest and then a brief look trying to see beneath the soot on his face, Ky’ly Pilininge, Master of the Guard. She reached forward and brushed back the hair of the Elf Matron, Allawana. With a slightly shaky voice Raju spoke, “Tanjee… I am going to need your help, this one is dead.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 RayannRed

As it was with all things in their shared lives, Rayann let Myth’s words reach through the fog of her emotions and guide her as to what she needed to do. Had it not been for her husband’s lightning reflexes and skilled use with Blue Moon, she would have been incinerated when the fire ball hit her. Letting her gaze find his for a brief moment, she gave the slightest of nods and began to do exactly as he reminded her.

The place was erupting in flames faster than she could ever hope to extinguish them and the masses were exiting so frantically, they would trample each other to death if they weren’t given alternatives for exiting. That’s when she saw the hole that had been created and she decided to capitalize on that for now.

Whispering words of magic, Rayann reached her left hand out before her then slowly began to make a wide circle with it. A wring of light appeared around the whole that glowed brighter and brighter with each pass of her hand and the brighter it glowed; the wider the hole became yet prevented the debris from falling on those passing through. When she was satisfied it was big enough to allow a large number through at a time, she turned to face the beast and Piramay.

She saw Kali thrust the ball of energy at the beast and couldn’t help but smirk slightly as she saw the effect the tar ball was having on the thing. Now, perhaps, she could help her daughter by giving the beast another thing to worry about.

Kali disabled its ability to spew forth its breath weapon, perhaps she could disable it even further in another way. Once more Rayann found her center and began to conjure a spell. Concentrating on the beast, she focused her spell and thrust her hands forward as lightning bolts erupted and headed directly for the beasts eyes.

As she felt the heat begin to dissipate around the chamber with the aid of Nol’s cooling fog, Rayann was already gathering magic to create her next spell.

Kellan wished she had the lance with her so she could thrust it through the beasts chest, killing it once and for all. She knew how dragons, true dragons, felt about these sort of creatures and she was thankful Nol did not attack it outright. Not that he would be defeated, but it allowed them to work together as the team they were.

As she felt his scales grow frigid, she felt the chill move through her that went hand in hand with his breath weapons. As the cold fog rushed forth from his jaws, she watched the rider on the beasts back and tapped Nol’s neck again. Tightening her grip on her sword, she felt Nol gathering to let loose the weapon on the unsuspecting mage once more when he stopped.

Glancing at the black figure that was now visible, Kellan furrowed her brow. Knowing they would have to wait to strike at the mage, she watched as Kali let a spell loose that caused a sticky, gooey blob appear around the beasts maw and not too long after that, a pair of bolts shot at the beasts eyes.

Kellan knew the fight happening below would not be a pretty thing and she was glad she wasn’t in the middle of it and had in fact a bird’s eye view. She leaned low and spoke so Nol could hear her over the screams and cries of panic in the city.

”I don’t think this is going to be pretty.”

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Healer

Tanjee worked side by side with Raju as the injured and burnt citizens of Silvanost began to seek them out for help. Over and over her medallion was placed on her kin as she prayed to her Goddess for the gift of life and healing. Over and over she saw those who were once agonizing in pain walk or run away in fear.

A fine sheen of sweat formed on the Elfess’ brow as she worked tirelessly with Raju. It seemed like whenever one left, four others arrived to take the place of the one. She had just healed another who could barely walk when she heard Raju call her over.

As she approached, she didn’t recognize the Elf right away until she saw the insignia on his clothing. Blinking, she looked and saw Allawana cradled in his arms then looked to Ky’ly before she turned to Raju and nodded her head.

”Come, Ky’ly….bring her here and lie her down then step back. We will do all we can for her.”

She saw Ky’ly about to say something when she quickly spoke up again.

”Now is not the time for reminding one of proper protocol. Time is waisting. Please….do as I have instructed.”

Ky’ly blinked at Tanjee. She was always outspoken but she had never spoken to him like that before. Still, he did as she instructed and walked over to a small cleared space and gently lay Allawana down. Tanjee knelt on one side of the Elf Matron while Raju knelt on her other side. Tanjee glanced up at Raju and nodded her head. Laying her Medallion on Allawana’s forehead while Raju laid her medallion on Allawana’s torso, Tanjee closed her eyes and prayed.

"Mishakal, Goddess of Light and Love, if it is your will this child of Nature is to live once more, we ask, humbly, that you find favor with her and restore her life and return her to the land of the living with a healed body, mind and spirit. This we pray in your beautiful name."

Raju nodded her head and prayed along with Tanjee. She could feel the young Elf mistresses faith and it warmed her heart. The medallions on the Elf matrons body began to glow and with the prayers being raised to Mishikal she suddenly coughed and Ky'ly reached forth and grabbed her up into his arms. The medallions went flying as he pulled his wife into his chest and held her tightly. Raju picked up Tanjee's symbol of Mishikal and handed it to her friend as she turned to Ky'ly, "Because of the grace of Mishikal she lives to see another moon."

Ky'ly looked at her but there was little thanks in his eyes, in fact there seemed to be rage. It certainly wasn't directed at her, or his wife, but it was there and Raju could almost feel it. She looked at Tanjee and then back to Ky'ly, "Remember what was done here this day, for you and your wife."

Ky'ly gave a stone faced nod of thanks and stood, taking his wife slowly towards their home. Raju stood slowly and watched them leave, as she watched him walk off she spoke to Tanjee softly, "His angst will certainly be his undoing, not even the death and then restoration to life of his lifemate brought a smile to his cold face. One can only wonder at the hardness of his heart."

She looked at Tanjee sadly and the sounds of the injured brought her back to reality. Looking around in haste she spoke, "Thank-you Tanjee, your faith is strong and Mishikal smiles upon you. Come, let us bring healing to these innocents."

Nol watched and listened as Kellan spoke to him. Nodding his head he responded via missive, ~"Aye, that look on Kali's face I have only seen a Kender's handful of times, and it never results in anything good. We are in a good place to insure the beast does not make an escape, keep a watch and if that thing even makes the slightest attempt to leave the ground I will freeze it and it's rider solid!"~

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 KaliBlack

Kali watched as her mother cast a spell she never would have expected from her mother, or a red robe for that matter. That notwithstanding she didn't take more than a millisecond to ponder it and she herself responded in kind. Grasping towards her mother and hissing words of magic some of the lightening forked and hit her hand. She brought her arm around and then put her palms together as she focused her anger and hatred into a focused rage and fueled the magic she was gathering. The slightest lacing of ambient magic began to flow around her, a delicate weaving of the two juxtaposed forces of power on the planet. As the purple mist swirled with the crackling lightening in her hand Kali turned and looked at the face of her sworn enemy sitting atop the fiery dragon and lashed her hand forward loosing a ball of spitting energy that burnt the very ozone as it shot out towards Piramay. Kali's face was a mirror image of her heart, it was clear that there was no hesitation in this moment, she wanted to watch Piramay fry and the magic felt in that single spell by those attuned to it was enough to kill 20 people.

Book 2 - Ch 4: Wedding Bells - Page 5 Pirabanner

Lightning crackled and the great beast thrashed unable to roar with the magical tar binding it's maw. The rider upon atop the beast dug her hands into the molten skin and began chanting as runes spread out across the beasts body. Piramay contemplated her options as events unfolded around her. Rayann had put herself on the offensive defended by her warrior husband and his ancient blade. Kali had tipped her hand slightly and brought herself boldly into the conflict. The hatred in the half-elf's eyes was obvious to anyone who looked at her. This battle would end quickly with the beast disabled, and her double would also be discovered for what she was. Kali’s next move was unexpected but it would help her in the short term.

The amount of power Kali poured into her spell was impressive, but the lacing of the ambient would be the hitch in her attack. The power of the spell was increased greatly but the use of the forbidden magic would work against the half-elf. It also provided a potent tool at a critical moment is she pulled the strings just right.

Amayth stepped forward with a determined look upon her face and slammed the end of her staff into the earth. The vines of her staff twisted and spun revealing an orb that glowed with a bluish white luminescence. Ancient words of magic spoken in an ancient elven dialect filled the room. The orb pulsed with light and there was a sensation of magic being pulled towards the orb. It drew in the shattered magics of the Chamber's enchantments and even pulled the magic from the beast and pulled power from Kali’s own spell.. The runes on the beast began to darken as the light pulsed again. Amayth stepped from her protective barrier as it was drawn into the orb. Her voice grew louder as a feint aura became visible around her almost like a living blue flame. Inwardly she contemplated how many years it had been since she had uttered the words of this spell.

The beast sensing the powerful magics in play turned on Kali and reared up placing its body between the spell and rider. Kali’s spell drilled into the beast as Amayth’s chanting rose. She thrust her staff into the air as the final words passed form her lips. Her voice erupted from her throat reverberating off the walls “Gurth goth Tel'Quessir” (Death to the foe of the elves.)The light of the orb flashed and a moment later a bright shaft of burning white light dropped from the heavens smashing both beast and rider. The darkness of Kali’s spell was snuffed out by the light as it burned through the molten construct. The beast’s screams of pain were muffled in the magical tar. Piramay herself spat a string of profanity that would have shamed a barmaid before fire engulfed her person and burned away. Kali would recognize the tell-tale signs of Piramay teleporting away in a ball of fire as she was fond of doing.
