The Nachtbruck clan have always been 'hunters of the unnatural'. Their family seal actually depicts a knight beheading a manticore, and holds many other arcane symbols within it. All who are from the area of Kassel are aware of the Faerie legends and many still believe in the superstitions that attracted the Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century. It was there that the famed writers collected their tales; stories used to frighten children into behaving properly, but to many of the old bloodlines they are more than just 'fairy tales'. The Nachtbruck's know the truth. They have encountered and killed Faerie, or so the stories say. Strom, was never really a believer. He grew up immersed in the occult and learned to prepare a purification ritual long before he could recite the Lord's Prayer, but as he grew older his belief began to wane. In time he discarded the lifestyle all together and went to school to study architectural engineering. It was many years before he would return home and when he finally did decide to journey back to his roots it was only to attend the funeral of his father who he had been told died of natural causes but nothing could have been further from the truth.
Strom had learned during the wake that his father's body had been found in a field not too far from the family home. The autopsy had revealed he drowned but there was no suitable bodies of water for several kilometers and there was no evidence that the body had been transported and dumped. It was a mystery and one that Strom vowed to unravel. He dug deep and at last turned to his arcane knowledge for answers and found them. During his investigation, he learned that everything his parents and grandparents had told him was true. It was then, with his eyes opened that the reluctant hunter embraced his families legacy and took up arms against the unseen monsters that plagued the world. This mission and the vengeance for the murder of his father would eventually lead him to America and it is there he continues his search, killing whatever unnatural beings cross his path along the way. Hair: Long, thick, wavy...dark auburn Eyes: Light green Skin: light tan Physique: toned, slender Jayden grew up knowing about the monsters of the world. She was born in a long line of fighters and knew about the ugliness that hid in the shadows. She'd watched a banshee take her father from them when she was 13 years old in the highland moors around her home as they were battling, her mother hiding her behind a small hill only to go to help her husband to see him struck down by the wicked creature. Her mother used her celtic magick and weapons to bring an end to the banshee but not before her husband and Jayden's father was lost to them. That was when the importance of weapons became foremost in little Jayden's mind. Magick was a necessary evil that her family used, but you needed the right weapon to finish the job as well as the moves to counter an attack. Her family were all careful about not exposing their hidden lives as well as the magick they sometimes had to use to finish the job when weapons weren't enough. Since that day, Jayden has trained beneath the watchful eye of her mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin. She learned weapons and strategies first and it was ingrained into her how important it was to use the magick only when absolutely needed. She trained in the art of their ancestors' celtic ways learning how to fight like the wolves they had been compared to. Rush in, strike, draw blood and retreat only to repeat the attack, wearing your opponent down, waiting for the right moment for the final blow. That was ten years ago. Now, she has been sent to America to give aid there while her family continue to wage war in Scotland. (more to come) | |
