13: The Coming Storm

Nol almost stopped her from returning his cloak and was going to suggest she keep it for her journey, however he knew it would be obvious she got it from someone else and reluctantly he let her reclasp it to him. As she reached up and kissed him, he returned the affection, gently pressing his lips against hers. It was he now who felt the warmth of her lips, and it was all over too soon. He could not read her mind, but he could see her face, and she was reflecting his own emotions back at him.

“Until we see one another again then.”

He reached up and touched her face, and in an instant, vanished like silver smoke.
